Artist Statement
Volcanic rock, with its fractured and enduring surfaces, is at the center of Nicole Parente-Lopez’s practice. Drawn to the quiet narratives and wisdom embedded in stone, she creates a visual language shaped by close observation and sustained presence.
Her practice transforms these encounters into works that invite reflection and deeper engagement with landscapes often overlooked. Each piece is an act of attention, opening a space for viewers to slow down, look closely, and enter into an intimate dialogue with the land.
Nicole’s work does not seek to replicate nature but to remain in conversation with it—to honor the tension between what endures and what evolves. Guided by the volcanic foundation that sustains life in the Pacific, her practice carries a quiet intensity that invites connection, contemplation, and reverence for the forces that shape both land and self.
